Bastrykin and Chuichenko spoke about traditional values ​​in law

Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia (TFR) Alexander Bastrykin said that the country lacks a national idea, which, in his opinion, should be the “spirit of patriotism.” The head of the TFR made such a statement at the opening of the International Youth Legal Forum, which takes place within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum (SPBILF). Bastrykin complained that in Russia for more than 20 years they have not been able to clearly formulate a national idea.

“We must look for an idea not in the backyards of Europe, but in ourselves, in our history, in our victories and in our accomplishments,” he said. In addition, Bastrykin believes, now is the time not only to resist the attacks of the West, but also to prevent its aggression, preventing the penetration of ideals alien to us into society. “Orthodoxy is the religious foundation of our society, autocracy is a form of government, and nationality is the meaning of the existence of both faith and power,” Bastrykin summed up. The formula “Orthodoxy, autocracy, nationality” was put forward in 1834 by the Minister of Education Sergei Uvarov during the reign of Emperor Nicholas I.

The chairman of the TFR also decided to speak out about modern Russian detectives, which are “impossible to watch” because of “Americanization”. “It all comes down to the fact that the operational officer, less often the investigator, strikes first. Watch the series from this point of view: no mind, no analytics, no forensics, no experience, no help from people, but a blow, a strong blow leads to the truth in criminal proceedings, ”complained Bastrykin. He urged the Ministry of Culture to work on this issue. “Probably, we should somehow invite the Ministry of Culture to our gatherings. <...> and ask how Ostrovsky’s plays can be staged <...> in a half-naked state, ”Bastrykin noted.

After Bastrykin, Russian Minister of Justice Konstantin Chuichenko spoke to the students. Compared to last year, he noted, this time there were many more foreign delegations (see inset), despite the special military operation that Russia is conducting in Ukraine. “A lot of ministers of justice of large states came to us, heads of the judicial systems of a number of states came to us,” Chuichenko said.

Chuichenko also said that everything possible must be done to preserve and strengthen traditional values ​​in Russia. “There are concepts that, despite freedom, should not represent the right to choose, but should be eternal, understandable and unambiguous. This is our spiritual and moral value,” said Chuichenko. In this regard, he recalled, in the near future his department will submit a bill banning sex change in the passport – now it is being discussed whether it is worth introducing such a ban only on the legal aspect or on the medical one too.

In his opinion, sex reassignment is a medical disorder, but not common. “But, in my opinion, given that such a problem as a medical one is not common and there are only a few cases where we can really talk about a person’s illness, I would suggest not attaching any importance to this and just take a course that we should treat these people only not in the direction of them changing sex, but in the direction of improving their psychological state,” he said.

According to the minister, over the past four years, more than 2,700 cases of gender reassignment have been registered, of which 190 have been married after gender reassignment. “We do not have the opportunity to see if there were adoptions, but we assume that these people also adopted children,” Chuichenko added.
