Barbiheimer – Style

This weekend saw the world premieres of the biggest blockbusters of the summer (if not the entire year) – Greta Gerwig’s Barbie and Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer. On the red carpet of the premiere screenings, the actors of both films conveyed the mood of the films with their outfits. “Barbie” at the stage of the promo tape gave the world one of the most endemic trends of the year – barbicore. abundance pastel colors and an emphasis on pink dominate the fashion market. Christopher Nolan’s film is much less focused on the fashion industry, but the simultaneous release of the pictures gave rise to a separate phenomenon – “Barbiheimer”. Viewers compare tapes in everything – including in terms of style.

Ryan Gosling, who played Ken in Barbie, appeared at the premiere screenings exclusively in the colors of the film – suits of pink and blue shades. On the red carpet in Los Angeles, the actor appeared in a pink Gucci suit with a pink shirt in a softer shade. Gosling disdained ties and bow ties – in fact, in some cases, he unbuttoned his shirt, perhaps more than expected. Thus, the actor broadcast the so-called Ken-ergy – “Ken’s energy”. This is a kind of barbicore sub-trend for men.

In light of the premiere screenings, Gosling and his style were inevitably compared to the style of Kilian Murphy, who played the American physicist Robert Oppenheimer in the film of the same name. It’s hard to say whether on purpose or not, but Murphy has become a kind of anti-Ken on the red carpet. The Irish actor appeared in strict dark suits or less formal looks in muted tones. As a rule, he opted for high-waisted trousers, perhaps paying homage to the style of the 1940s and 1950s. At the London premiere, Murphy appeared in a combo of dress pants and a dark cardigan. Also, the actor several times opted for costumes with alternative details. For example, a Prada shirt and tie in the same color or a transparent Saint Laurent shirt at the Paris premiere.
