According to preliminary data, as a result of the shelling by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) of Vasylivka, five people were killed, about 15 were injured, informed in his Telegram channel of the Acting Governor of the Zaporozhye region Yevhen Balitsky.

“According to preliminary data, as a result of artillery strikes by Ukrainian armed forces on the peaceful city of Vasilyevka, 5 people were killed, 15 were injured of varying severity,” he wrote.

According to Balitsky, four employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations were injured, one of them is in critical condition. The head of the region stressed that as a result of the shelling, a residential sector was destroyed, and civilians and rescuers who pulled people out from under the rubble suffered.

“The situation in Vasilyevka is tense, shelling does not stop, all emergency services are working to help people,” Balitsky added.

Earlier in the day, the chairman of the movement “We are with Russia” Vladimir Rogov in his Telegram channel informedthat the military commandant’s office of Vasilyevka came under fire, where there was a queue of local residents to get passes for cars to pass through checkpoints. Later, he clarified that the blow did not hit the commandant’s office building, but the neighboring high-rise building. Rogov also said that the shelling, according to preliminary data, was carried out from HIMARS.

On October 19, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the introduction of martial law in the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics (DNR and LNR), Zaporozhye and Kherson regions.
