Balance: Armed Forces of Ukraine shelled bridges on the border of Crimea and Kherson region

The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) launched a missile attack on bridges on the administrative border of the Kherson region and Crimea, declared Acting Governor of the region Vladimir Saldo.
“The Kyiv terrorists want to intimidate Kherson residents, sow panic among the population, but they will not be able to do this. We are able to repair bridges quickly: the passage of cars will be restored in the very near future,” he wrote in his Telegram channel.
According to preliminary data, the Armed Forces of Ukraine used British Storm Shadow missiles, Saldo noted. As a result of the impact, no one was injured, only the road surface was damaged at the posts themselves. Authorities have also temporarily moved vehicles along the backup route, he added.
The head of the Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov, in turn informed about the attack on the Chongar bridge. Specialists are conducting an examination to assess the type of ammunition, he added.
On June 20, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu announced Kyiv’s plans to strike Russian territory with HIMARS and Storm Shadow missiles, including Crimea. The use of these missiles outside the special operation zone will be regarded as a full-fledged involvement of the United States and Great Britain in the conflict, he stressed at the time. In this case, the Russian Federation will inflict immediate strikes on decision-making centers on the territory of Ukraine.
The transfer of long-range aircraft cruise missiles Storm Shadow from the UK to Ukraine became known in May. The Kremlin then said that such a move by London would require an “adequate response” from the Russian military. After that, the Ministry of Defense repeatedly reported that Storm Shadow missiles were used to attack new regions of Russia. Deliveries of American multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) HIMARS to the territory of Ukraine have been carried out since the summer of 2022.
The Russian authorities regularly criticize the supply of arms to Ukraine, noting that this could lead to the expansion of the conflict zone.
