The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan reported that Baku refused to participate in the meeting of the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia in Washington, which could have taken place on November 20.
Armenian Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan previously announced possible negotiations in Washington on a peace treaty in Washington. Yerevan, for its part, expressed its readiness to participate in such a meeting.
Azerbaijan’s decision to withdraw from the meeting came shortly after US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs James O’Brien announced that the United States would suspend military and other assistance to Baku until progress was made in negotiations with Yerevan.
