Baikal Airport in Buryatia increased passenger traffic by a quarter – Kommersant

Since the beginning of the year, the Baikal International Airport in Ulan-Ude has served more than 306,000 people. How informs Ministry for the Development of Transport, Energy and Roads of Buryatia, the growth in passenger traffic compared to the same period last year amounted to 24%.
“For Buryatia, these are important indicators that indicate the demand for air travel, the development of the route aviation network. The increase in passenger traffic is also due to the provision of subsidies from the federal and regional budgets. Today, almost all inter-regional and intra-regional air flights are subsidized in Buryatia.
Moscow, Novosibirsk, Vladivostok, Krasnoyarsk, Irkutsk and Khabarovsk remain popular destinations among passengers. In addition, flights are operated from Baikal Airport to Khuzhir (a village on Olkhon Island in Baikal), Yakutsk, Blagoveshchensk, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Tomsk, Kyzyl, Sochi, Nizhneangarsk, Taksimo. Passenger traffic is expected to exceed 700,000 people this year. At the end of 2022, the number of passengers amounted to 629 thousand.
