Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry: UN mission will arrive in Nagorno-Karabakh in the coming days

The UN mission will arrive in Nagorno-Karabakh in the coming days. The visit will take place under the auspices of the coordinator of the world organization in Baku, reported press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.

“After the anti-terrorist measures carried out a few days ago, Azerbaijan invited the relevant UN structures to visit its Karabakh region. This trip will take place in the coming days under the auspices of the UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan,” the department noted.

Azerbaijan’s “anti-terrorist measures” in Nagorno-Karabakh began on September 19. The next day, Karabakh authorities announced the conclusion of agreements on a complete ceasefire. After this, negotiations took place in Yevlakh between the delegation of the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh and representatives of the Azerbaijani authorities. As a result of the meeting, the Karabakh military began to surrender their weapons under the control of Russian peacekeepers.

On September 28, the president of the unrecognized republic, Samvel Shahramanyan, signed a decree on the termination of its existence from January 1, 2024 and the dissolution of all government institutions and organizations. Armenians began to leave the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh. According to the latest data, more than 88,000 displaced persons have entered Armenia.
