In 2023, the purchasing power of the average European was €17.7 thousand, an increase of 5.8%. Such data is contained in published yesterday, October 25, a report from the research company GfK. The company estimated the total purchasing power of Europeans in 2023 at €12.1 billion.
Residents of Liechtenstein are in first place in terms of purchasing power – €68.8 thousand, which is almost four times the European average. Next come Switzerland (€49.6 thousand) and Luxembourg (€40.9 thousand). The top 10 also includes Iceland, Denmark, Ireland, Austria, Norway, Germany and the UK. In total, there are 42 countries in the ranking. Ukraine takes last place (€2.5 thousand). Russia is not in the ranking.
“This year, European countries have again recorded a significant increase in purchasing power – an average of almost 6% – which, however, cannot compensate for the still high inflation. At the same time, purchasing power does not move in the same direction in all countries: for example, Ireland has improved (its place in the ranking.— ”b”) by four places, while the UK’s position worsened by three places,” noted GfK geomarketing solutions expert Tim Weber.
