Chairman of the organization “European Committee for NATO Enlargement” (not part of the military bloc), Austrian politician and public figure Günter Fehlinger said that the North Atlantic Alliance should prepare for military intervention against Serbia, and also threaten it with the bombing of Belgrade in order to stop the escalation in partially recognized Kosovo.

“The Serbian war against Kosovo began in Bansk. I call on NATO to immediately prepare military intervention against Serbia. We must act decisively to ensure peace in the Balkans by immediately threatening Serbia with the bombing of Belgrade,” wrote he is on the social network X (formerly Twitter).

Prior to this, Kosovo authorities accused Serbia of involvement in an attack on Kosovo police officers, which resulted in the death of one of them. Later, the Kosovo police announced the liquidation of several people in the Banjska monastery who were allegedly involved in the attack on security forces. The situation caused a new wave of tension in relations between the Serbian community and the Albanian authorities of the partially recognized republic.

NATO Kosovo Forces (KFOR) have already responded to the incident and stated that they are in the area of the Kosovo police operation and are ready to respond if necessary.
