Austria calls for referendum on lifting sanctions against Russia

Opposition forces in Austria have called on the government to hold a referendum on whether the population supports sanctions against Russia. This was reported by the press service of the Austrian Freedom Party (APS).
Erwin Angeger, Commissioner for Economic Affairs in the APS faction in parliament, noted that Vienna supports limiting oil prices, because of this, Russia will no longer supply it. “The boycott will cause a shortage of oil, which will lead to an inevitable jump in prices,” he stressed. The victims, he said, would be Austria’s population, economy, welfare, and “hard-earned prosperity.”
The politician demanded that the EU and the Austrian government lift restrictions against the Russian Federation. The Austrian population, in his opinion, should be able to express their opinion on this matter in a national referendum.
