Australian authorities have imposed sanctions against 13 Russian citizens related to the case of opposition politician Vladimir Kara-Murza, who was recognized as a foreign agent in Russia. According to the press service of the Australian Foreign Ministry, targeted financial sanctions and a travel ban were introduced for three Federal Security Service agents.
In addition, Australia has imposed sanctions and travel bans on ten Russians, including the Deputy Minister of the Russian Federation, but their names have not been disclosed. In July of this year, the Australian government also imposed sanctions against 35 Russian organizations and 10 citizens from Russia and Belarus. In April 2023, the Moscow City Court sentenced Kara-Murza to 25 years in a maximum security colony on charges of treason, spreading fake news about the Russian army, and participation in an undesirable organization.
