The auction house “Alexander” will hold on May 25 the second auction of private collections. In the Moscow mansion of Spiridonov, a pre-auction show has begun, which will last until May 24. Art objects of the 15th-21st centuries are put up for auction, which include original graphics, icons, sculptures, as well as rare coins. Each presented lot was checked by experts who confirmed the authenticity and quality of the works, as well as their historical and museum significance.
Separate halls of the mansion are dedicated to different eras and areas of art. The first section presents collectible coins, orders and medals. This is no coincidence, since the history of the auction house began with numismatics and faleristics. The next section contains ancient Russian icons from the collection of I. A. Sysolyatin, who put up for auction 81 samples from his private collection.
The public will also see paintings and graphic works by Russian and Soviet artists of the 19th and 20th centuries, as well as objects of contemporary art. Another section of the auction is Japanese arts and crafts. Up for auction are ivory sculptures, as well as a collection of vases from one of Japan’s greatest potters.
