ATOR: more than 100 Russian tourists are in Israel

There are about 100 organized Russian tourists in Israel. The number of Russian vacationers who went to the country unaccompanied by tour operators is unknown. About it reported ATOR press service.

“According to preliminary information <...>there are now about 100 organized tourists in Israel [из России]. The number of independent passengers is unknown. <...> There are no reports of injured Russians after Israeli shelling yet,” the message clarifies.

ATOR also noted that Russian diplomats are monitoring the situation and maintaining contact with the Israeli authorities. The emergency headquarters under the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation also maintains contact with tourists and the Russian Embassy in Israel.

The consular department of the Russian embassy in Israel called on all Russians, especially those in the south of the country, to stay in safe places, comply with the requirements of the rear command and not leave shelters until permission from local authorities.

Tourists who organized a trip to Israel on their own were advised to contact the emergency telephone number for travelers: +972 54 962 23 41.

The aggravation of the situation in Israel began on the morning of October 7. The terrorist group Hamas announced the launch of a “military operation” against Israel called “Al-Aqsa Flood”. The reason, according to the leader of the military wing, Mohammed ad-Deifo, was the occupation and repeated Israeli incursions into the Al-Aqsa mosque.

At approximately 10:40, the IDF announced a retaliatory military operation, Operation Iron Swords, although Israeli aircraft and artillery began striking the Gaza Strip even before this.

According to official data, 22 people were killed and another 545 residents were injured as a result of rocket attacks in Israel. 70 patients are in serious condition. Doctors believe that the death toll may increase.
