The new rule will not affect professional athletes
A bill according to which grants received by athletes and athletes will not be taxed was developed by the Russian Ministry of Economic Development. Today’s public comment document began on the portal of draft regulatory legal acts.
Currently, the Tax Code provides for tax exemption for recipients of grants provided to support science and education, culture and the arts. These grants can be allocated by international, foreign and Russian organizations included in a special register, which is approved by the Russian Government. The Ministry of Economic Development proposes to add physical educators and athletes to this list.
True, the new rule, if the document is adopted in the proposed edition, will apply only to amateurs. Professional athletes will still have to pay tax.
