Assistance in preparing referendums in Donbass announced in Crimea

The authorities of the Republic of Crimea are assisting in the preparation of referendums on reunification with Russia, which are to be held in the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions. This was stated by the senator from the Crimea, Sergei Tsekov, who works as part of the committee of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on international affairs.
Earlier it became known that the public chambers of the DPR and LPR appealed to the leadership of the republics with a request to initiate referendums on joining Russia. The fact that the inhabitants of the Kherson region insist on holding a referendum was also stated by the deputy head of the military-civilian administration of the region, Kirill Stremousov.
According to a number of Russian politicians, the referenda may take place in the fall of 2022. There are fears in Ukraine that holding referendums will untie Russia’s hands in terms of intensifying hostilities.
