Asia Times: American weapons dishonored themselves in Ukraine
[ad_1]
Asia Times, a Hong Kong-based newspaper, notes in its article that Russian UPAB glide bombs have baffled Western air defense systems transferred to Ukraine, since not a single such munition has yet been shot down. However, US-supplied glide bombs were ineffective and had already been intercepted by the Russians.
The article emphasizes that so far the Russians are winning the battle of glide bombs. In Ukraine, Russian UPAB bombs have already been called an “extraordinary threat.”
At the same time, the publication calls it surprising that the GLSDB (planning ground-based bomb) and JDAM-ER (gliding bomb) delivered to Ukraine turned out to be less effective and had already been intercepted by the Russian military.
The newspaper cites data on the use by Russian aviation of a single UPAB weighing 680 kilograms on April 18 in the western part of Artemovsk (Bakhmut). “The mushroom cloud from the explosion was visible for miles,” the article says. It also notes that the following day, similar bombs were used by Russia in other areas along the line of contact.
