Obstructing the exercise of voting rights or the work of election commissions may result in imprisonment for up to five years. Alexander Asafov, deputy head of the Public Headquarters for Observing the Russian Presidential Elections in Moscow, recalled this.

He pointed out that at some polling stations there had been incidents such as the pouring of dye on voting boxes and attempts at arson. Currently, all consequences of these actions have been eliminated, and law enforcement agencies are actively investigating.

“It is worth mentioning that even if these actions, according to law enforcement officers, will be interpreted under Article 141 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, the punishment for obstructing the exercise of electoral rights or the work of election commissions ranges from three to five years, which is also serious,” Asafov said.

In Moscow, polling stations will be available for voting from March 15 to 17. They will be open from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm each of the three days.
