Armenian authorities have set a course for worsening relations with Russia for the sake of the West – former parliamentarian
Yerevan has set a course for worsening relations with Moscow in order to fulfill the will of the countries of the collective West, Armenian ex-parliamentarian Arman Abovyan said in a commentary to REN TV.
According to him, the Armenian authorities can slightly strengthen their army, and then officially declare that now it will be Armenia, not Russia, that will defend the country.
At the same time, the ex-deputy said that he was not ready to predict the reaction of the country’s population to the pro-Western policy of the Armenian government. According to him, Armenians are “regularly brainwashed” using the media, and this may well affect the mood in society.
“But the fact that the situation is critical is already a fact,” he said.
Earlier, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan said that the country was “freezing” its participation in the Collective Security Treaty Organization. According to the Armenian leader, the CSTO has not fulfilled its obligations to protect the state, especially in 2021-2022.
