The Armenian government turned to Russia, the CSTO and the UN Security Council in connection with the aggravation of the situation on the border with Azerbaijan. About this TASS reported in the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers of Armenia.
“The government has already turned to Russia, the CSTO and the UN Security Council in connection with Azerbaijan’s encroachment on the country’s sovereign territory,” representatives of the country’s Cabinet said.
In addition, in the Telegram channel of the Armenian government reportedthat the Prime Minister of the Republic Nikol Pashinyan had a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. It is noted that the Prime Minister of Armenia discussed with the Russian leader the “provocative actions” of Azerbaijan against the republic. Pashinyan later held telephone conversations with French President Emmanuel Macron and US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.
On the night of September 13, the Armenian Defense Ministry stated that Azerbaijani troops fired on the border settlements in the south-east of the country – Sotka, Goris and Jermuk. The department clarified that the attack was carried out from artillery pieces and large-caliber weapons. According to the ministry, there are dead and wounded.
In turn, the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan accused in the escalation of the situation Yerevan. The department reported that Armenian troops mined areas and supply routes between the positions of the Azerbaijani army. The ministry also pointed to shelling from the Armenian side. According to the department, there are dead and injured.
