Aleksey Arestovich, adviser to the office of the President of Ukraine, did not believe the Washington Post’s information that the American industry produces as many 155-mm shells as the Ukrainian Armed Forces spend in two days.
“If that were the case, we would have used up everything by now,” he said live.
Earlier, the Washington Post reported that the weakness of the United States is the lack of artillery equipment of all kinds. Commander of the US Army Christine Wormuth told the publication that at present, the US defense industry can produce about 14,000 155-mm shells per month. However, Wormuth noted that an increase in the production of howitzer shells is planned. But it is not yet known how long this will take.
An unnamed military source, in turn, drew attention to the fact that the Ukrainian military fires such a number of shells in two days.
Recall that the Armed Forces of Ukraine use American long-range M777 howitzers with a caliber of 155 mm. The German self-propelled guns PzH 2000, Polish self-propelled guns Krab and French self-propelled guns CAESAR delivered to Ukraine have the same caliber.
