Washington will announce another $3 billion military aid package to Ukraine, timed to coincide with the country’s Independence Day, informs A.P. News.
As the sources of the agency explained, the difference between the new aid package and the previous ones is that it will be aimed at strengthening the defense potential of Ukraine in the medium and long term. Previous deliveries included weapons that could be shipped from the Pentagon’s military warehouses in the shortest possible time, and which the Armed Forces of Ukraine badly needed. In addition, the package will demonstrate Washington’s continued support for Kyiv.
Germany also intends to supply additional weapons to Kyiv. How notes Bloomberg, Germany will provide Ukraine with ammunition, means of protection against drones and armored recovery vehicles for $500 million.
On August 24, Ukraine celebrates Independence Day. According to the US State Department, in the coming days, the Russian military is allegedly going to “intensify strikes against civilian infrastructure and government institutions in Ukraine.” US Embassy in Kyiv urged American citizens leave Ukraine.
Russia’s special operation in Ukraine began on February 24. Russian President Vladimir Putin called the denazification, demilitarization of Ukraine and the liberation of the LPR and DPR its goals. On July 3, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu reported on the liberation of the LPR.
