Javier Miley, who is opposed to the country’s entry into BRICS, won the presidential elections in Argentina.
Miley, who is known for his far-right views, received the support of 55.95% of voters, according to a count of 86.59% of the vote. His rival Sergio Massa, a former economy minister, received 44.04% of the vote. Miley was elected president for the next four years.
Miley supports the Austrian school of economic thought and considers himself a “short-term minarchist” but a “philosophically anarcho-capitalist”. He considers Argentina a “tax hell” and advocates rapid cuts in government spending to balance the budget.
Miley became widely known for his regular television appearances, where he criticized the administrations of Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, Mauricio Macri and Alberto Fernandez for uncontrolled spending and lack of budget adjustments.
