Another 500 million rubles were allocated in the Bryansk region for the construction of a fortification line

The funds will be allocated from budgetary appropriations in 2023, which are reserved in the regional budget for the implementation of activities of the state programs of the Bryansk region and other activities, the document says. The order came into force from the day of its official publication – April 19.

At the end of February 2023, the Governor of the Bryansk Region Alexander Bogomaz informed on the completion of the construction of a defensive line in the region. According to him, the task of ensuring the security of the border regions was solved “in the shortest possible time.” Bogomaz noted that the construction of fortifications was carried out “practically around the clock and seven days a week.”

In March, the governor of the Belgorod region Vyacheslav Gladkov also announced the completion of the construction of the defensive line. Former Minister of Construction of the Region Oksana Kozlitina statedthat almost 10 billion rubles were spent on the creation of the notch line. Subsequently, Gladkov clarified that the funds were not allocated from the regional budget.

The construction of fortifications also continues in the Crimea. In February, the head of the Crimea Sergey Aksyonov promised to complete the work by April 1, he estimated the maximum period until April 15. However, the completion of construction has not yet been officially announced.

The construction of defense lines in the border regions began against the backdrop of hostilities in Ukraine. Since the beginning of the special operation, Belgorod, Kursk, Bryansk regions, Crimea and other subjects of the Russian Federation have been repeatedly attacked by Ukraine. Now in these regions a high (“yellow”) level of terrorist danger operates indefinitely.

In addition, since October 19, 2022, by decree of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, a medium level of response has been set in eight regions. Among them are Crimea, Sevastopol, Krasnodar Territory, Belgorod, Kursk, Voronezh, Bryansk and Rostov regions. In the new regions of the Russian Federation – the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions – martial law has been introduced.
