Annual inflation in the Russian Federation accelerated to 5.48% in a week – Kommersant

Price growth in Russia from September 5 to September 11 amounted to 0.13%, from the beginning of September – 0.19%, and from the beginning of the year – 3.9%, follows from the Rosstat report. According to Interfaxannual inflation, taking into account new data, accelerated from 5.15% at the end of August to 5.48%, if calculated from weekly dynamics (Central Bank methodology), and to 5.33%, if calculated from average daily data (Ministry of Economic Development methodology).

The agency notes that the discrepancy in annual inflation indicators is due to the fact that in September 2022, prices decreased for 11 days, but on average increased by 0.05% over the month. At the same time, the Ministry of Economic Development takes into account the average monthly dynamics, and the Bank of Russia takes into account fluctuations during the month in its calculations.

According to Rosstat, for the period from September 5 to September 11 in the segment food products prices increased, in particular, for chicken eggs (1.3%), chicken meat (1.2%), boiled sausages and rice (0.7%). During the reporting period, prices for fruits and vegetables decreased by 0.9%, including white cabbage (decrease 6.8%), carrots (4.9%), onions and potatoes (3.5%), beets ( 3.3%) and apples (2.8%). At the same time, prices for cucumbers (4.2%), bananas (3.9%) and tomatoes (3%) increased.

In Group medicines over seven days, prices for Corvalol and Validol increased by 0.5%, and Allochol by 0.3%. Prices for levomekol and ergoferon decreased by 0.4%, rengalin by 0.3%, nimesulide and multivitamins by 0.1%, Rosstat reports.

In the segment hygiene and essential goods Laundry soap, diapers for newborns and matches increased in price by 0.2% during the period from September 5 to September 11. Prices for sanitary pads, toothpastes and brushes increased by 0.1%. At the same time, the price of toilet soap (0.4%), baby diapers and washing powders (0.3%), and toilet paper (0.2%) decreased.

Among the others consumer goods the price increase affected, in particular, women’s tights (0.6%), foreign passenger cars (0.4%), men’s socks (0.3%) and edged boards (0.2%). Prices for shampoos decreased by 0.6%, children’s sneakers and televisions – by 0.3%, tracksuits – by 0.2% and children’s jeans – by 0.1%. Prices for gasoline in the Russian Federation increased over the week by 0.7%, for diesel fuel – by 1.7%, Rosstat reports.

In the field services, according to the statistics service, the cost of flying in an economy class aircraft increased by 2.5%. The average price of accommodation in a three-star hotel in the Russian Federation increased by 0.3%, in four- and five-star hotels – by 0.1%. Accommodation prices in one- and two-star hotels, motels and hostels decreased by an average of 0.3%.

On September 12, the Russian Ministry of Economy presented a macro forecast until 2026. The authors believe that inflation will be 7.5% this year. Previously, the Ministry of Economy expected 5.3%. The indicator was increased due to the transfer of exchange rate changes to prices, and in the future the department expects stabilization. At the same time, the transfer of exchange rate fluctuations into prices was “greatly mitigated” by the establishment of logistics, as well as increased competition between suppliers due to parallel imports.
