Annual inflation from September 26 to October 2 slowed to 0.21% – Kommersant

By data Rosstat, inflation in Russia from September 26 to October 2 was 0.21%. A week earlier it was at 0.28%. A press release from Rosstat notes that since the beginning of October, consumer prices in the country have increased by 0.06%, since the beginning of the year – by 4.54%. The Ministry of Economy estimated annual inflation as of October 2 at 5.94%.
During this period, prices increased for chicken eggs (+3.2%), chicken meat (+1%), sunflower oil and margarine (+0.6%), lamb, sausages, sausages (+0.5%), bread and pasta (+0.4%), granulated sugar and table salt (+0.1%). Prices for boiled sausages, frozen fish and sour cream decreased by 0.2%, and for black tea and vodka by 0.1%.
Prices for fruits and vegetables increased by 0.2% on average. In particular, prices for tomatoes increased by 7.9%, for bananas – by 2.3%. Prices decreased for cucumbers (3.6%), potatoes (2.3%), carrots (1.9%), apples (1.5%), white cabbage (1.4%), onions (0.6 %) and beets (0.1%).
In the group of medications, prices for multivitamins (1.6%), ergoferon (1.4%), allochol (0.6%), analgin (0.5%), and corvalol (0.2%) increased in price. Prices for levomekol decreased by 0.1%.
In the sector of non-food essential goods, prices for sanitary pads (0.5%), washing powders and soap (0.4%), toothbrushes (0.3%), toilet paper and diapers for newborns (0.2%) increased in price. Prices for baby diapers, toothpastes and pet food decreased by 0.1%.
According to the Ministry of Economy, price growth in the non-food sector decreased from 0.24 to 0.08%. In the services sector, prices increased by 0.27% due to higher prices for air tickets for domestic flights.
On September 15, the Central Bank at a meeting of the board of directors raised the key rate by 100 basis points, to 13%. The regulator expects inflation to accelerate to 6.0-7.0% in 2023 from 5.0-6.5%. The Ministry of Economy in September raised its forecast for the current goal to 7.5% from 5.3%. In 2024, the Central Bank expects inflation at 4%, the Ministry of Economy at 4.5%.
