First Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Andrei Belousov may not join the new government that will be formed after the inauguration of the president. This is reported by “RIA News” citing a government source. According to the agency’s interlocutor, Mr. Belousov may be offered to head the Accounts Chamber.

“There is information that Andrei Removich Belousov may not join the new government. One of the employment options is appointment to the post of head of the Accounts Chamber,” RIA Novosti quotes the source as saying.

The Chairman of the Accounts Chamber is appointed by the Federation Council for a six-year term on the proposal of the President. The same person cannot hold this position for more than two consecutive terms. In May 2018, Alexey Kudrin was appointed head of the Accounts Chamber. His term of office was supposed to expire in May 2024, but in November 2022 he announced his resignation as chairman and move to Yandex. His deputy, Galina Izotova, became the acting chairman of the Accounts Chamber.
