And not a friend, and not an enemy, but a Turk

A month and a half is left before the general elections scheduled for May 14 in Turkey, which has become a close situational partner of Russia to the NATO country. On March 30, Turkey’s Supreme Electoral Council officially approved four presidential candidates. At the same time, the head of the council, Ahmet Ener, stressed that the opposition’s claim to remove the incumbent President Recep Tayyip Erdogan from participation in the elections would not be satisfied.
On March 31, the final list of participants in the presidential race was published in the state-run Official Gazette (Resmi Gazette) of Turkey. As a result, the current head of state and leader of the ruling moderately Islamist Justice and Development Party (AK Parti) Erdogan (president since 2014, actually head of state since 1999, founder and leader of the party) once again decided to compete for the presidency. According to the results of the draw, which took place on April 1, Erdogan’s name appeared on the ballot at the first number.
