Analysts Predict Chinese Army’s Tactics to Capture Taiwan’s Capital

Combat operations during armed conflicts of recent decades often took place in urban environments, which required the leading armies to develop new tactics. This is the conclusion reached by the authors of a new collection of military articles “War among the Walls”, which is prepared by the Center for Analysis of Strategies and Technologies (CAST).

Military experts analyzed the experience of fighting in urban conditions and the features of military operations during the siege and capture of settlements. One of the articles is devoted to the possible tactics of the Chinese army in the future operation to capture Taiwan. The conclusions are made on the basis of an analysis of the exercises of the People’s Liberation Army of China, conducted recently.

Chinese strategists have determined that the attack in the Taiwanese capital Taipei should take place in several directions along the main streets, while the rest of the military personnel will encircle the city and secure in the occupied areas.

The main goal of the PRC offensive is the division of the Taiwanese army into several parts and their consistent destruction. The occupied areas of the city are planned to be divided into sectors and gradually cleared of enemy soldiers entrenched in buildings.

Since communication between units is unstable and often interrupted in urban battles, the Chinese encourage the personal initiative of military personnel, convincing them of the need to be able to act independently in critical circumstances.

Experts said that for the People’s Liberation Army of China, combat simulation systems were created, which during the exercises simulate the loss and injury of soldiers as a result of an unexpected attack by the enemy, damage to equipment, explosions and, in general, the atmosphere of military operations in the city.

According to CACT, Chinese military personnel are training to conduct operations in life-size mock-ups of city blocks built for this purpose in the Taiwanese capital Taipei.

It is curious that the talented commander Alexander Suvorov, who did not lose a single battle, before the storming of Ishmael also ordered to dig an earthen ditch and build a full-size model of the fortress walls, and put stuffed animals on top.

Under the leadership of Suvorov, the soldiers trained to quickly overcome obstacles, climb the city walls and attack a mock enemy. As a result, during the assault on Izmail, the Turks lost 13 times more soldiers than the Russian army, which indicates the effectiveness of this approach.

Chinese strategists are convinced that in order to capture the capital of Taiwan, the PRC army needs many years of preparation: working out the interaction between infantry, artillery and aviation, training in psychological warfare, conducting cyber operations, and so on.
