Analysts fail to reach consensus on CBR rate decision

The decision of the Board of Directors of the Bank of Russia at the next meeting on September 15 turned out to be difficult to predict for the market, as follows from a traditional survey of economists conducted by Vedomosti. 10 respondents out of 19 consider the base scenario to be maintaining the key rate at the current level of 12%, despite the recent statement by the Central Bank about the possibility of increasing it. Other experts believe that the rate will still be increased.

At the same time, analysts in both groups, in addition to the basic scenarios, also present alternative ones. Some experts who consider maintaining the rate as the base scenario also allow for its increase – and with a rather sharp step. Analysts who call growth the key option are also not entirely sure of this. They believe that there are prerequisites for the rate to remain unchanged.
