However, financial analyst Mikhail Belyaev emphasized that this news would not affect its economy in any way, since in recent years the figure of the monarch has not had a serious impact on the political and economic life of the country.
In an interview with Lenta.ru Belyaev stressed that news of the Queen’s death would be neutral for the economy. According to him, if Elizabeth II had died, for example, 20 years ago, the economy would have reacted, since then the royal family played a significant role in the UK and was perceived as a guarantor of the stability of the economy and the political course.
The analyst clarified that now the situation has changed, and over the past five years, against the backdrop of all the scandals around the royal family, Elizabeth has lost her weighty position. As the expert noted, the queen almost ceased to play other state roles, except for representation, no longer being a “support, pivot and consolidating moment” in the economy. Belyaev believes that for the British, the queen has become a “decorative element” to which citizens are accustomed, and she has moved more into the category of gossip.
The expert also believes that the news of the death of Elizabeth II will “sink” in a series of sad messages amid the difficulties that the UK faced in connection with the energy crisis, as well as unrest over the election of the prime minister.
Belyaev added that due to the sad news, the course will still change, but here it is necessary to take into account the unstable position of the economy, which is sensitive to any negative news, reacting to them with a decrease. However, the analyst emphasized that the impact of the death of the monarch will be “superficial, opportunistic and fleeting.” The specialist concluded that it is “absolutely not necessary” to expect radical changes, collapses, collapses or crisis phenomena.
