Kommersant Style tells what laser devices are capable of and why they are so suitable for men.

Over the past few months, the situation on the Russian cosmetology market has stabilized: global supply problems are being resolved, but consumables have become more expensive. The season of hardware procedures has begun – in our latitudes it will last at least until March, while the temperature is stable low, and the UV index is below 3; it’s time for lasers. According to the marketing agency Research And Markets, the global market for cosmetic lasers is growing every year by about 14%. This is due to three factors: a quick result, only a little discomfort and a short recovery time.

The evolution of beauty

Today, there are so many types of lasers that you can solve almost any problem: get rid of pigmentation, blood vessels and post-acne marks, even out the skin texture and achieve a noticeable lifting effect. Among other things, lasers are effective for removing scars and tattoos, and its most non-obvious application is intimate rejuvenation. “Lasers used in cosmetology have different power, light wavelength, pulse frequency and tissue penetration depth. The principle of operation is the same: the laser heats up and evaporates certain skin layers, thereby starting the processes of skin renewal and restoration,” says Albina Bukhurova, dermatovenereologist, cosmetologist at the Real Clinic clinic.

The expert adds that a few years ago, a significant leap took place in laser technology – the Halo hybrid laser appeared. Until now, it is considered the only laser in the world that allows for simultaneous ablative and non-ablative rejuvenation within the same procedure, that is, acting on different depths of tissues. In one session, Halo has an effect of rejuvenation equal to the effect of five or six sessions on other, “non-hybrid” equipment.

Aleksey Veliky, the founder of the GEN87 network of innovative cosmetology clinics, notes that laser techniques are among the top favorite procedures for patients because of the desire for a quick result without pain and rehabilitation. “However, comparing the demand for procedures in Moscow and St. Petersburg, I jokingly note that in the cultural capital they like it harder, preferring aggressive CO2 laser resurfacing,” says the expert.

Both men and women

Laser rejuvenation is the most popular hardware procedure, and on both sides of the ocean. Interestingly, among all cosmetic services, it ranks third among women, and second among men. There is an explanation for this. “The laser starts the skin regeneration processes and promotes a rejuvenating effect with a short rehabilitation period (one to three days on average), while achieving the most natural result. And, importantly for men, the procedure is painless. Such rejuvenation is an alternative to plastic surgery,” says Albina Bukhurova.

It should be noted that there are not so many Russian-made laser devices, but they have occupied a market niche in diode laser hair removal. These are devices Capello, Magic One, 1S Pro, Viastar 810, which are often assembled in China or Russia, but with Chinese parts. “This is a simple technology that was easy enough to implement, make an adequate price and bring it to beauty salons and clinics. But in general, it is difficult to single out prominent players in this segment, since Russian lasers are distinguished by a SKD assembly of Chinese components. Not to say that in this direction in our country there is a breakthrough at the moment. Russian lasers can be evaluated in terms of comparing Lada and Mercedes. The convenience and ease of use of foreign manufacturers is much higher,” explains Alexei Veliky. It is important that not a single foreign major player has left our hardware technology market – medical equipment is not under sanctions.
