An F-35 fighter jet crashed in the United States

An F-35 fighter jet crashed during a flight. This was reported by Joint Base Charleston on X (formerly Twitter).

“We are working with Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort to locate the F-35 aircraft that was involved in an accident this afternoon,” the statement said.

It is specified that the pilot ejected. According to latest reports, the fighter disappeared north of the Charleston base, near lakes Moultrie and Marion in South Carolina. The causes of the accident are not specified.

USA Today writesthat the pilot landed safely in the North Charleston area. The soldier was taken to a local hospital, his condition is assessed as stable. The pilot’s name has not been released. The newspaper, citing unnamed officials, noted that the missing F-35 fighter jet was flying with another plane, but there is no evidence that either interfered with the other.

The F-35 took off from Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort. The aircraft is part of the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing’s fighter training squadron.

At the end of August, during exercises off the coast of Darwin crashed an Osprey military helicopter carrying about 23 US Marines. As a result of the incident died three military men. The reasons for the crash were not specified. In total, more than 2,500 military personnel took part in the exercises; they were suspended after the incident.
