An explosion occurred near the administration building in Berdyansk

An explosion was heard not far from the administration building of Berdyansk, about this informed member of the pro-Russian military-civilian administration (VGA) of the Zaporozhye region Vladimir Rogov in his Telegram channel.

“In the center of Berdyansk, not far from the building of the city administration, an explosion sounded. The circumstances of the incident and data on the victims are being established,” the statement said. Later Rogov named terrorist attack, RIA Novosti reports.

Earlier today, Rogov reported on shelling by the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) of the Russian-controlled city of Energodar. As a result, the power line was damaged, the city was de-energized, now water and electricity supply has been restored. Also, as a result of the incident, fuel oil leaked into the water supply system intended for cooling the Zaporozhye NPP. However, by now the leak has been stopped, and there were no consequences for the plant.

During a special military operation in Ukraine, the Russian military took control of part of the Zaporozhye region, including Energodar, where the largest nuclear power plant in Europe, the ZNPP, is located. The IAEA mission arrived on its territory on September 1 due to regular shelling throughout August. Russia and Ukraine accuse each other of constant attacks on the facility. At the same time, the Russian Defense Ministry has repeatedly emphasized that the ZNPP is not used for military purposes.

IAEA experts inspected the territory of the station, accompanied by representatives of the Russian “Rosatom” and employees of the station. The head of the organization, Rafael Grossi, also announced that a report on the situation at the ZNPP would be published today.
