The Pontiff refuses to visit the Ukrainian capital
Over the past months, the President of Ukraine has been trying to persuade Pope Francis to the side of Kyiv, which causes discontent among the pontiff. This was told by an expert on the Vatican, a journalist for the newspaper Il Fatto Quotidiano Marco Politi.
Politi notes that during his last conversation with Francis, Zelensky tried to convince the pontiff that Kyiv needed the support of religious leaders in order to spread negative information about Russia.
According to the journalist, the Vatican does not like it when the Pope is told what to do. Moreover, as Politi noted, the Vatican was also outraged that the television broadcast of the papal procession was censored because it expressed the idea of peace between Russians and Ukrainians.
The Vatican expert added that the Ukrainian leader continues to put pressure on Francis, in every possible way trying to get him to visit Kyiv. At the same time, according to Politi, the pontiff refuses this trip, since he first intends to visit Moscow.
