Initially, the pilot project for the sale of alcohol by Russian Post was supposed to take place from June to December 2021 in the Moscow Region and Mordovia, but later, at the request of the Ministry of Agriculture, they decided to expand the geography and postpone the launch. It was reported that the experiment will start in April 2022 in Moscow and the Moscow region, St. Petersburg, Leningrad and Nizhny Novgorod regions. It is clarified that the regions of the pilot project have a well-developed logistics infrastructure, they also entered the top 10 in terms of consumption of wine products in 2020.
