On December 15, ANO “Organization for the Development of the Video Game Industry” was registered in Russia, “Kommersant” was found in the SPARK-Interfax database. Vasily Ovchinnikov, a former adviser to the head of the RFRIT, Alexander Pavlov, and the developer of the PvP.Tools platform, is listed as the general director of the ANO.
Mr. Ovchinnikov himself explained to Kommersant that the organization was created, in fact, more than a year ago to develop the video game development industry and the industry as a whole by supporting significant projects and useful initiatives, promoting them, discussing them, creating a positive image of game development and gaming culture in society , as well as coordination of interaction between investors, publishers, universities, government agencies and corporations. The ANO has already included industry experts, representatives of a number of game studios, and applications are now being collected.
“Now we see the main task, first of all, to preserve the industry with its restoration and development. We need investments, we need competition between investors for good projects, we need access to alternative markets, we need to expand the domestic market and improve the culture of gaming entertainment, improving the image of the industry,” said Vasily Ovchinnikov. Since the beginning of this year, the authorities have shown interest in supporting the Russian video game industry. So ANO “Internet Development Institute” financed several projects for the development of patriotic video games, including the “Trouble” project, dedicated to the events of the Time of Troubles, the game “Sparta” about a Russian private military company and other projects.
In addition, the Ministry of Digital Development is currently developing a separate federal project to support the Russian video game industry, as well as discussing the idea of creating a Russian age rating system.
