Amnesty International: Ukraine violates military and humanitarian law

Ukraine violates the laws of war and endangers the lives of civilians by placing military equipment and weapons in schools and hospitals. This is stated in a TASS report with reference to a report released on Thursday by the human rights organization Amnesty International.
“We have documented that the UAF put civilians at risk and violated the laws of war while operating in crowded places,” said Amnesty International Secretary General Agnes Callamard.
The report reports on cases recorded by human rights activists of attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine from residential buildings and their placement of weapons on the territories of civilian infrastructure facilities in 19 cities and towns of Ukraine, including in the Donbass, Kharkiv and Mykolaiv regions. At the same time, as noted in the report, the Ukrainian military leadership did not organize the evacuation of residents from buildings in order to minimize losses from a possible retaliatory strike from the Russian Armed Forces.
Amnesty International experts come to the conclusion that 22 of the 29 schools they visited in the south-eastern regions of Ukraine housed either the personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine or military equipment and weapons. For example, it is emphasized that in the city of Odessa, the Ukrainian military deployed armored vehicles right in densely populated residential areas, and in the city of Bakhmut (Artyomovsk), a military base was set up in the university building.
