Monson surrendered his American passport and was left with the only citizenship – Russian
Mixed martial arts fighter Jeff Monson told TASS that he had handed in his American passport to the consulate in Istanbul and renounced his US citizenship. Earlier in 2018, the American Monson received a Russian passport, and then even was elected to the local council of deputies in one of the cities near Moscow.
“I renounced my US citizenship because of the politics of this country. All my thoughts and my future are connected only with Russia. … Now I am no longer an American, I am only a Russian,” Monson told the agency.
Jeff Monson was born in the USA and competed there in various disciplines, including several fights in the UFC championship.
