American experts acknowledged the failure of sanctions against Russia

The Washington Institute of International Finance (IIF) assessed the sanctions policy against Russia as a failure. The institute identified two main directions of the sanctions strike: restrictions against the financial sector and an embargo on exports of goods and services to Russia. The effectiveness of measures in the first direction was initially doubtful, they write in the IIF. The effect of banking sanctions against a country that does not depend on global financial markets, but, on the contrary, acts as a net creditor in relation to the world economy, is minimal. A similar result was shown by similar restrictions against Iran, writes in the IIF.

Trade sanctions have also proved to be ineffective and, at best, have given rise to many “jokes about exports to Russia through the countries of the former USSR,” the institute’s experts ironically.
