Amendments were made to the State Duma on the maximum social support for the widows of the soldiers who died in the NMD

Deputies submitted to the State Duma billin accordance with which it is proposed to provide maximum measures of social support to the spouses of Russian soldiers who died during a special operation in Ukraine, excluding the requirement for them to live alone.

Amendments to the law “On Veterans” were introduced by the Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin and all the leaders of the Duma factions.

The explanatory note to the document notes that the current legislation provides for different support measures for widows living alone or only with children, and widows living, for example, with their parents.

“We are talking about a completely unnecessary bureaucratic norm, which often leaves families with children without social support,” noted Senator Andrei Turchak in his Telegram channel. According to him, widows who do not live separately are deprived of preferential pension and medical support, compensation for housing and communal services and, in some cases, housing.

The adoption of the amendments will increase the level of social protection for the wife of a deceased combat veteran who has not remarried, the authors of the amendments noted.

“The State Duma will continue to work on laws in support of military personnel and their families. This is our duty to the soldiers and officers who protect the country and ensure the safety of citizens,” leads press service of the State Duma Volodin’s words.

Earlier in December, deputies from the lower house committee on defense suggested additionally protect the labor rights of combatants. In accordance with the amendments, citizens who did military service under a contract during emergencies or took part in a special military operation in Ukraine will be able to receive a preferential right to enter a job no lower than their previous position.

Russia’s special operation in Ukraine began on February 24. Russian President Vladimir Putin called the protection of the inhabitants of Donbass, as well as the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, its goals. During the special operation, Russian troops took control of the LPR, as well as most of the DPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. Subsequently, these territories became part of Russia, and on October 19 martial law was introduced in the regions.
