The Russian Foreign Ministry summoned the ambassadors of Italy and the Netherlands in Moscow. This is stated on the website of the department.
Italian Ambassador Jojo Starace has been called in due to the cancellation of a number of concerts in the country. The report says that he “was expressed the bewilderment of the Russian side”, since these actions indicate “a tendency to discriminate against Russian artists and narrow cultural and humanitarian exchanges.” This is “dissonant” with the statements of the authorities of the republic on the development of world culture, the department specified.
The ambassador of the republic was also protested in connection with the supply of “weapons and military equipment, including offensive ones, to the Kyiv regime.”
In addition, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs demanded an end to the “intrusive attempts by the Dutch authorities to groundlessly lay responsibility” for the MH17 flight crash that occurred in the Donbass on July 17, 2014. This was stated by the Ambassador of the Netherlands Hilles Arno Beschoor Pluh, who visited the ministry on February 16.
“The statement of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to suspend the investigation is another proof that the investigation has exhausted the arguments in support of its one-sided accusatory position,” the department added.
The ministry also drew the ambassador’s attention to the “destructive position of The Hague” regarding the issuance of visas for Russians. The department urged to abandon the “language of ultimatums” and continue a constructive dialogue.
On February 16, the Foreign Ministry decided to expel four employees of the Austrian embassy in Moscow in response to similar actions by the Austrian authorities. Then the department stressed that the decision to expel Russian diplomats from Vienna “is not justified by anything” and “causes serious damage to bilateral relations, which are already in crisis due to the actions of the Austrian side.”
