Israel has not yet launched a full-scale ground operation in the Gaza Strip. This was announced by the country’s Ambassador to Russia Alexander Ben Zvi in an interview with TASS.
“This is not yet a large-scale ground operation,” he said.
On the evening of October 27, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on expanding ground operations in the enclave. Previously, the army had reported partial operations in some areas of Gaza.
Since October 7, after the attack of the Palestinian group Hamas on the southern regions of Israel, the Gaza Strip has been subjected to massive bombing. A day earlier, the media reported that on October 27, the heaviest rocket attacks since the beginning of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict began in northern Gaza.
The Palestinian telecommunications company Jawwal announced a shutdown of mobile communications and the Internet. Minister of Communications of the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) Yitzhak Sadr reported that the department is negotiating with the satellite company Starlink to restore communications in the Gaza Strip. Palestine is also discussing with Egypt the possibility of facilitating the passage of Starlink through the Rafah checkpoint.
According to the latest data, about 8,000 people have been killed in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, including more than 6,500 Palestinians. In addition, more than 200 hostages remain in the enclave – among them 54 Thai citizens, 15 Argentines, 12 Germans, 12 Americans, six French, and six Russians. Previously in Hamas stated about the readiness to release eight people with dual citizenship, information about which Russia requested.
