The political crisis in South Africa due to the investigation of the current president Cyril Ramaphosa, proposed by the opposition party, will not negatively affect relations with Russia and will not affect its membership in the BRICS. This was announced by the Ambassador of South Africa in the Russian Federation Mzuvukile Maketuka.
On the eve of the parliamentary commission, formed in connection with the accusations of money laundering against the head of state, published a report according to which the South African leader “possibly committed” actions that violate the laws of the republic. However, Ramaphosa categorically denies these allegations. According to Agence France-Presse, the report “paves the way” for the start of the impeachment proceedings.
According to the diplomat, relations with Moscow are historical and deep. He assured that the only thing that could destabilize the relations of the countries is a coup d’état.
