Russian Ambassador to Berlin Sergei Nechaev said that Russia does not rule out restoring mutually beneficial business ties with the European Union (EU) in the future if this meets the interests of Moscow.
According to the diplomat, sanctions were never the choice of the Russian side, so Moscow does not rule out that mutually beneficial ties with the EU could be resumed in the future if this meets Russian interests. At the same time, he pointed out the need to understand that the market niches that European business had left short-sightedly were quickly occupied by competitors, primarily domestic economic operators, who would not easily give up their advantages.
Nechaev added that this is why German companies, despite political pressure, are so reluctant to leave Russia, where they have been earning quite well for decades.
