Russian Ambassador to the United States of America Anatoly Antonov told reporters that the United States has long been violating the “bang and letter” of the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty.
According to him, the White House refused not only from the provisions laid down in the START preamble, but also from observing the treaty’s central limits, according to which the number of strategic weapons is limited.
“Washington illegitimately withdrew from the offset about a hundred strategic offensive weapons. We are talking about heavy bombers and SLBM launchers. Among other things, the requirements of the Russian Federation to eliminate this problem were constantly ignored,” Antonov said.
He clarified that one of the most important factors that led to the current crisis around the agreement was the “hybrid war” unleashed by the US administration against the Russian Federation, and aimed at inflicting a strategic defeat on Russia.
