Almost two-thirds of Russians approve of the personal presence of governors in social networks

ANO “Dialogue” conducted a sociological study, during which Russians were asked about their attitude to the maintenance of pages in social networks by the heads of regions. According to the results of the survey, 64% of respondents approve of the fact that governors are engaged in their personal pages on the Internet and instant messengers, and 55% consider their channels and publics useful. Also, 61% of respondents approve of the maintenance of accounts in social networks by the heads of settlements. True, at the same time, only 55% of Russians are aware that their governor maintains social networks, and 44% know about similar activities of the heads of cities and towns. According to Dialog, 86 out of 89 Russian governors maintain personal pages on social networks.

75% of respondents who follow the pages of politicians in social networks reported that they are interested in political topics. 76% indicated that they read the social networks of leaders to find out the latest news.

Andrey Tsepelev, Deputy General Director of ANO Dialog Regions, believes that “if you work well with your personal account, the head (of a region or municipality.— “b”) becomes the main media on its territory, and the page becomes a new public reception.” According to Elena Udalova, head of the department of sociology at ANO Dialog, the results of the study show that political and news content “is now in the top of the information consumption of users of the Russian segment of the Internet,” and the main goal of Russians when accessing the Internet is to find out the latest news.

The study was conducted in April this year through an online survey on a sample of 1,200 respondents.

Recall that ANO “Dialogue” was created with the participation of the presidential administration. One of its stated goals is to help Russian governments implement effective Internet policies.
