“Kommersant Style” talks about the new, third season of the series “Murders in the same building”: what is interesting about it and how the cast has changed.

It still stars Selena Gomez, Martin Short and Steve Martin, a trio of essentially random neighbors who live in the Arconia apartment building in New York City on the Upper East Side. The series is filmed in the genre of detective comedy. Selena Gomez plays the role of Mabel, a young girl with no particular occupation, who lives in her aunt’s apartment, Steve Martin, the famous comedian of the 1980-1990s (remember, for example, the movie “Plane, train, car”), in fact, plays himself , that is, the famous serial actor Charles Savage in the past, and the third main character – Martin Short, a Canadian comedian, in the series – retired producer Oliver Putnam, who is experiencing financial difficulties.
Amateur detectives during each season solve only one case, and the murders themselves take place in their house (which is reflected in the title of the series). The investigative process itself takes the form of a podcast hosted by this trinity, it is broadcast on the air, which causes the appearance of fans, new storylines appear in the form of envious competitors hosting similar podcasts, and in general the very idea of such a broadcast and an open conversation with the public a very modern move that unites generations. The heroine of Selena Gomez, like the actress herself, is around 30 years old, her counterparts are over 70 each, it is interesting to watch their communication as if you suddenly saw the usually difficult relationship between granddaughter and grandfather suddenly on an equal footing, without discounting for age round trip.
In addition to vivid dialogues, riddles and funny episodes, the show is famous for its cameos – for example, in the first two seasons, Sting, Shirley MacLaine, Cara Delevingne, Jimmy Fallon, Amy Schumer appeared in different roles. The third season seems to be even more impressive: the series started on August 8, and we already see new characters – Paul Rudd, Meryl Streep, Ashley Park, from “Emily in Paris” and Jesse Williams, known for his role as plastic surgeon Jackson Avery from ” Anatomy of Passion.
Major spoilers for today (the series releases one episode a week): Glenroy (Paul Rudd’s character) has died on stage while performing in a Broadway play, and Charles, Oliver and Mabel are determined to find out who did kill him. In addition to the main intrigue, there will be several musical numbers. Given that Selena Gomez is not only an actress and one of the producers of this series, but also a singer, the audience is definitely ready for this turn of events.
