Albania refuses to extradite blogger-photographer accused of espionage to Russia

A court in Albania has refused to extradite Russian blogger Svetlana Timofeeva, who was detained at an abandoned military plant in the republic in August 2022, transmits edition of Albanian News.
“The prosecution demanded that the request of the Russian state for extradition be rejected,” the newspaper notes.
Timofeeva was arrested on August 20, 2022, along with 23-year-old Russian Mikhail Zorin and 24-year-old Ukrainian citizen. All three were detained while trying to enter an abandoned military factory in the city of Gramsci and take photographs. During the arrest, they resisted using pepper spray.
In the autumn of 2022, a number of Russians were also detained in Sweden on suspicion of espionage and illegal filming using drones and photographic equipment. Among them was Andrey Yakunin, co-founder of the Venture Investments & Yield Management fund and the son of the former head Russian Railways Vladimir Yakunin. The investigation claimed that he allegedly illegally used a drone on the island of Svalbard.
