The greatest threat to the security of Crimea is Ukrainian drones, all other risks are completely controlled by the region, told Head of Crimea Sergei Aksyonov in an interview with TASS.
“Our main threat to Crimea is drones, everything else is under complete control,” he said.
The head of the region explained that the drones are small in size and often attack in waves, and not one by one, while the intelligence services of “all countries of the world” work for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, whose military potential is used to the maximum. At the same time, Russian law enforcement and the military are making every effort to combat drones, Aksyonov emphasized. So, new air defense systems are coming to the region, in addition, the assembly of their own UAVs has begun in Crimea, he added.
On December 8, the governor of Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvozhaev, announced that the duty ship of the Black Sea Fleet knocked down drone. Similar information appeared on December 6, when the regional administration reported two downed drones. In addition, on December 8, Russian FSB officers detained two residents of Sevastopol, who are suspected of treason in the form of espionage in the interests of the SBU.
On October 19, by decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin, a medium level of response was introduced in eight border regions, including Crimea, Sevastopol, Belgorod and Kursk regions. At the same time, Putin announced the introduction of martial law in the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions.
