Aksyonov allowed the annexation of the territories of the LPR and DPR without referendums

Accession to Russia of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics (DPR and LPR) can be carried out without holding referendums – this will be decided by the top leadership, about this informed Head of Crimea Sergey Aksyonov in his Telegram channel.

“In my opinion, in the current situation, it may be quite logical and justified to join the territories without referendums. In Crimea, there was an absolutely legal referendum that complied with all legal norms, but still few people recognized it. Recognition or non-recognition by certain states does not depend on how these territories are annexed. It is a matter of political will,” the statement said.

Aksyonov also noted that it is necessary to annex the territories of the DPR and LPR as soon as possible. He stressed that Crimea is ready to provide any assistance in this matter – moral, material and methodological. “Crimea will help to the best of its ability, it will always support the brothers in any direction. The main thing is our experience in terms of the transition period, adaptation to Russian legislation, to life in our big country,” the head of the republic noted.

Earlier, Secretary of the United Russia General Council and First Vice Speaker of the Federation Council Andrei Turchak said that referendums in Donbass “will definitely take place, and this year already.” He clarified that the most correct decision would be to hold them on November 4 – the Day of National Unity. He noted that this is the date that “unites us all.”

According to the research center INSOMAR, in the Zaporozhye region of Ukraine, 71% of respondents expressed their desire to become part of Russia, 6% – to remain part of Ukraine, the same number – to become an independent state, 17% found it difficult to answer. The corresponding question was asked to the residents of the Kherson region. As a result, 63% said they wanted to become part of Russia, 11% would prefer to remain part of Ukraine, 7% – to become independent, 19% find it difficult to answer.
